A second distinctive feature of this book is its emphasis on induction, both in terms of a general philosophy as well as one's approach to a particular Scriptural passages. It is being increasingly recognized in various circles that the inductive approach is the most effective pedagogical procedure. In a recent book significantly entitled College Readings for Inductive Study, the following statement was made: "The method of this volume is inductive. The editors assume that the authoritative pronouncement of truth, with whatever charm of personality, cannot provoke maximum growth of the mind, and that increasingly as a teaching procedure it is being rejected." This volume is based on the conviction of the soundness of this stress on induction, not only because of this pedagogicall induction, not only because of its pedagogical values, but also because it is deemed to be in keeping with the nature of the Scriptures and of the reasoning process.
